Truley a wonderful place to visit, Noordhoek is close to everything that the Cape has to offer, room to breathe but with plenty to keep the traveller occupied.
Noordhoek has undoubtedly one of the longest, widest and most beautiful stretches of beach in the Cape. The "Long Beach" extends over 8 kilometres to Kommetjie. It is too vast to ever be crowded and is ideally suited for long walks. In winter, when the waves are higher, a lagoon forms in front of the dunes.
The sea is always aggressive in Noordhoek, particularly when the wind blows from the west or north-west. The northern end of the beach is rocky. Huge boulders, rounded by wind and water, frame a little sandy bay called "The Hook". This is a place for surfers. The waves arrive in short sequence and are often several metres high.
Noordhoek is located at the southern end of the Chapman's Peak Drive. The mountain slopes are very green, densely overgrown with coastal fynbos. Well groomed horses graze in the paddocks in the valley. Beach rides are popular. Noordhoek is about living in nature.
